Understand where your data goes.

A practical overview of mailbox access, backend processing, and the records used to support your requests.

1. Connect through your provider

You authorise access through a supported mailbox provider. Review the permissions before connecting. You can revoke access through the provider’s account settings; this can stop connected features from working.

2. Review mailbox signals

Account discovery can use sender details, subjects, dates, and snippets. Receipts, signup messages, subscriptions, and privacy notices can point to services you may have used.

A mailbox is an incomplete record. A result does not prove what a company currently holds or whether it must delete it.

3. Understand backend processing

Spectre combines a browser interface with backend services. AI assistance can send relevant mailbox signals to those services for identification and drafting. Reply and business workflows may also process message content.

Processing is not entirely local to your device. Read the Privacy Policy before deciding whether to connect a mailbox.

4. Review and send a request

Check the organisation, recipient, and wording before sending. The organisation receiving your request is responsible for handling it. Spectre cannot delete records directly from another company’s systems.

5. Keep account and request records

Stored records support account access, billing, usage limits, request history, and organisation workflows. Request records may include the recipient, subject, request text, sending status, and timestamps.

See the retention section for the purposes that affect how long records are kept.
